Yea I checked that box and nothing has happened in Windows Live Messenger. Has anyone successfully completed this operation and if so can you state your steps to accomplish this. Thank you.

MSN plugin doesn't seem to print anything to messages, so I assume there are some issues.

Preferences > Interfaces > Control Interfaces > MSN Plugin... on the bottom line replace "msn" with "msnmsgr" to get it working.

P.S. You're Welcome

With most recent you mean 0.9.8a?

Try using a msnplus plugin? Works for me. Here's the script if you have msnplus:

Hi all,
I've checked off the correct options in VLC (I have version 0.9.9), but when I go to the option in Windows live messenger (I have version 2009, build 14.0.8064.206) it gives me an error message saying I must have at least Windows Media Player 9 installed (which I don't, nor do I want to - I removed everything WMP-related in nLite of this installation). I don't want to install MSNPlus - that'll be a last resort. Any way around this? Some crazy registry tweak that forces Windows live into thinking I do have WMP so this will work?

Thanks!

Mike

On the VLC media player website, it is the original download you all got I think. Could it have something to do with windows vista?

It shows up in my Vista. You should try 1.0.0 installer.

I'm having the same issue as cherryone. I have the same version of VLC and WLM, and nothing happens when I set the "Now playing" option. I tried to change from "msn" to "msnmsgr", but every time I go back to check it, VLC changes it to "msn" again. I tried the Live Messenger Plus plugin, but it doesn't work correctly. Sometimes it just shows the file name, other times it shows all the information. The "- -" in the end of the message is also not cool. Any suggestions to help us? Thank you

I can not see it working. I do not have Plus addon for live messenger.
Steps i have done: changed from msn to msnmsgr and restarted vlc 1.0.1. No change in status.
Used the spy++ tool from Visual Studio 6.0 to catch the WM, i cant see anything.
I use XP SP3 up2date.
Next step for me is to comple a debug version of plugin and to see it in action. Don't know when this will happen..
Thanks for your time,
H
