Disabling auto resize ?

Postby tarthrin » 22 Oct 2008 17:02

Is there a way to disable the auto resize? I know how to just fix the size of the window, but that's not quite the same.

So you want blank space around the video?

I just want the window to stay the same size when i drag it to the size i want. Blank space around the video is fine.

AFAIK that isn't possible. You have to manually set the size from VLC settings. (and you might have to separate controls from video window)

I was searching for the same thing.

I don't want to let VLC autoresize everytime a new file is opened.

I want to keep the actual size of the window.

Actual size?
Sorry.. the last used window size of VLC independent of the different video movie resolution.

try e.g : vlc --width=400 --height=300 --qt-display-mode=1 ....
vlc won't resize if those parameters are given (command line or preferences)

And I agree it would be great if _no_ autoresize was made easier to select as default behavior !

Will this not always open VLC with the same size?

I would like to open VLC always with the last size.

It would be nice also to have a shortcut to adapt window size to video size again.

You're right, .... that's not exactly what you were asking for.
I'm afraid there is no other alternative. And I totally agree with what you proposed.

I'm using 0.9.8a..

Where is it that I input these settings...
In the TOOLS>PREFERENCES>????
then which page in the advanced view, would it be located on?

I searched high & low and cannot see where these would input

---

With all the high-def videos that are 1280xXXX or bigger it just opens wider than the monitor screen and I have to re-adjust the player screen size in each and every case and this is getting so old....!

thanks
