skins causes vlc to crash

Postby Ariell » 27 Jan 2009 22:30

Hi,

Iam having problems using skins with vlc. Without skinable Interface activated the players works perfectly. As soon as I enable it the first video only show a black window with sound and the second video crashes vlc. Doesnt work with 5-6 skins I have downloaded, also the default skin.

- deleted cache
- tested 0.92, 0.94, 0.98a

system:
-phenom 9850
-2 gb ram
- win xp sp2

Anyone an idea?

Ariell

At least in my test default skin works OK with 0.9.8a. Does it matter if you change video output module to something else?

When you say you deleted cache, do you mean that you removed %appdata%\vlc completely?

My last suggestion is to remove %appdata%\vlc and then start VLC directly to skins using

Code: Select all

vlc -I skins2 --verbose 2 --extraintf=logger
and paste logger messages here when error arrives.

When I use "vlc -I skins2 --verbose 2 --extraintf=logger" the error doesnt occur. I tried to save the preferences and restarted vlc but the window was black again.

If you start VLC with logger
vlc --verbose 2 --extraintf=logger
and do the routine that causes issues, what messages you get to logger window?

when I start the player with "vlc --verbose 2 --extraintf=logger" all skin options are disabled so I cant reproduce the error (when I start the player normal the skin is enabled)

AFAIK only skins has that option.

With vlc --verbose 2 --extraintf=logger you get QT4 GUI?

If you have set skins2 as your default interface, the vlc --verbose 2 --extraintf=logger should also start VLC with skins2 interface. Not with QT4 interface. So there is something wrong.
