I am having the same problem. Will this be fixed soon? Why does VLC need it's own limited file dialogue box anyway?

my "workaround" for this issue which is slowly driving me nutz...

I use the search interface in windows to do the file finding, or just "browse" in the explorer windows to network share and look for the files, in both cases you need to share the folder the files are in to be able to use it, at that point just grab the file names and drop into the Playlist interface.

BUT that doesn't solve your other issue and it is only a workaround. I do though, find that I am doing this more and more since there are files or eps that I can't put into a categorized folder hierachy, so the search works better but... Still not what I want either.

I do hope they tell me how or fix the issue.

Hi - having the same problem, can't browse network shares, or see mapped drives either for that reason. Any work around been developed? I was using advanced open because I'm viewing media over a wireless network and need to cache.

Thanks, great player!

You can adjust VLC cache value also from VLC settings (Tools -> Preferences... (Show Settings: All) Input / Codecs -> Access modules and select one you gonna use).

Thanks, found the setting . I also selected access module "File Input" and now it seems to display the mapped drives when I use Advanced open (but not network places). Any idea why this works?
