Strange box with magnifying glass opens everytime I open VLC

This has only been happening for about a week now, and I'm not sure what I've downloaded that would make VLC do this. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like:

How do you start the VLC?

I just load it up from the desktop, it never used to do this... I have no idea what's going on

Does it happen if you start VLC by double clicking the vlc.exe?

Oops! Actually, it only happens when I open a movie with VLC. Which is also when my computer changes to the Windows Vista Basic scheme.

If I open VLC on it's own, then it's fine.. I'm soo confused..

Have you changed your video output module from VLC settings? Because DirectX 3D should default for Vista and it shouldn't disable Aero.

I tried Direct3D and it still happened, so I switched to OpenGL and everything's perfect, it doesn't even switch to windows basic!
