sound?

Hey I'm a newbie trying to play a video from "my downloads" using my laptop. The sound is coming from the computer speaker and not the TV! Can anyone help me fix this?

How have you connected the devices? And what is your default Windows audio playback device and have you changed audio output device from VLC settings?
