Shadows / dark backgrounds look pixelated and blotchey

Postby Thorskin » 26 Dec 2008 03:46

I have been running HD movies and moives in general thoruhg VLC player in vista, i have a geforce 8800 GT and 3gigs of ram. The backgrounds and often shadows look blotchey or pixelated, and jagged. The regular lighter colors look great. Any recommendations how i can fix dark textures from looking this way? thanks.

And if that doesn't help, could you share some screenshots that show this issue?

Where can i disable that setting? On screen caps its not noticable, but when i watch my tv from diff angles, you can see like blocky shades around the edges of the picture, most noticably in black environments. Its gotten a bit better updating my card drivers, but its still there in some scences, also it appears blurry in some backgrounds and not as vivid as it seems it should be.
