I have removed it from Firefox and VLC directory but the error message comes again. The funniest think is that the video is playing very fine when the error occure. Example http://mediathek.zdf.deYou need to remove npvlc.dll.manifest if you get the C++ crash in browser.
Removing "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\Microsoft.VC80.CRT" and contents fixes the problem for me too, thanks for the pointer VLC_help!
I had a brief dig through the registry and FireFox config but couldn't see any references that would indicate where it came from and why...
