Streaming Directshow

Postby GazzLam » 07 Dec 2008 21:05

Having a problem streaming DirectShow (i.e streaming what WMP is playing). (v0.8.6 on Windows XP SP2)

I've done File > Open Capture Device (I realize I have no capture cards - but didn't think it would matter if I was recording from directshow). Video and Audio devices are set to Default(A refresh show my 2 sound cards but no video device).

I check Stream/Save. Click settings.
RTP out on an address, enable Audio & video transcoding.

Then on a different system I open the stream, and I hear the audio, but no video (surprise).

Do I actually need a tuner card just to stream what WMP (or Media Player Classic) is showing? I thought VLC could just stream what is being played already.

Thanks

You can use screen if you want to stream what you see in the stream (so open screen://). Unfortunately you can't combine screen with directshow audio, so option is only transmit either video or audio.
