Two VLC screens with single video

Postby genegold » 05 Dec 2008 19:45

I have a single monitor and a problem in 0.9.6 with two downloaded .wmv videos from the same source that work fine with other players (WinXP/SP3). Whether I open the files, VLC shows a regular screen and a smaller one above w/o controls, the latter saying on top: "VLC (Software RGB DirectX Output)." Is there a setting to correct this? Other .wmv files run fine. Thanks.

This just means your video has two tracks enabled. VLC show them correctly.

Under 0.8.x last March VLC was of a different opinion.

Thanks. Btw, the link to this thread is giving a message that the certificate chain is incomplete and the certificate is not registered.

Install cacert.org certificates.

Install cacert.org certificates.
I thought certificates were something the site (VideoLan) obtained and if there is a reported error such as one I reported, it means that the site has made an error (even if inadvertent). That's what the US-CERT site clearly states (http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/tips/ST05-010.html). This is the first time I've ever heard it suggested that end users should have to register at a site like CAcert.org.

Well, read a bit around CAcert.org, and you will understand...
