Crash with FLV files

Postby SMG » 09 Nov 2008 17:05

Ever time I try to open a FLV file VLC craches. I get the nice error: "VLC media player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

It's with the lastest version 0.9.6. Previous version 0.9.4 has no problem with it.

Please use the latest nightly build (0.9.7). There is no support from VLC Team for this but you can get it from: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... -win32.exe

the link still works, it's a problem on your end it seems
you might try copying the following and pasting it in the address bar :

Code: Select all

http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/latest/vlc-0.9.7-git-win32.exe
or retry here : link (same thing but shortened through tinyurl services )

AFAIK there isn't any release date set for next release.

Git play in two windows?
There is one window with the video and the other with the controlpanel is behind it.
And it doesnt matter if i enable "Integrate video in interface" or not.

Nightlies are build and shared with computers that run Linux. It is hard to get any normal viruses/trojans etc. to those builds because Linux can't run Win32 binaries. So the warning must be a false positive.

I got from the link in your post a file (<9MB instead of the anounced 15MB) and the message came as i tried to install it.

.exe installer in VLC case should always be larger than 10 megs. Incomplete or damaged download will give you that nsis warning.
