0.9.4 Choppy / Laggy Video on Windows 2000

Postby vinnylan » 15 Oct 2008 12:02

Hi,

I am running VLC from a Windows 2000 Server and the video is very choppy. I am running on an Intel Celeron 2.x Ghz processor with 1 GB RAM. I have a ATI 9xxx graphic card too.

I wonder why the video is so choppy. It was like that in 0.9.2 and I thought this upgrade would fix it.

Sometimes the sound continues to play while the screen stays fixed.

I am trying 0.8.6i at the moment. It is slightly better but still choppy. I wonder what is wrong.

Same on all videos? Have you tried different video and audio output modules? (remember to restart VLC after changes)

I think there is something wrong with my DVD drive. I changed the output modes as the ones you showed me and it seems to work. I burn the DVDs into image files and use Daemon Tools to read the DVD virtually. This seems to solve the choppy problem.

Activate DMA on your drive.
