You mean that rewind/forward is laggy? If so, it is a known issue.

Does changing video or audio output modules from VLC help?

I find it laggy only when I have my video in fullscreen mode.

I have:
Windows Vista
1.7GHz
2GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c

I tried both OpenGL, image dummy, DirectX 3D, and DirectX.....none of them fixes the laggy in fullscreen mode for me.

Was your laggy on only on full screen mode only?

I upgraded from 0.8.6i to 0.9.2. Version 0.8.6i worked out fine...no lag.

I was able to get rid of the lag by disabling the control interface while in fullscreen.

Upgrade your video driver to latest make sure you have enough cpu for playback, also do yourself a favor, by resetting the preferences.
Do you mean A/V out of synchronization?
or is video playback choppy?
what media file you try to play x264 encoded ? HD contents?
It would help to post your PC specs, make sure you have enough RAM and a good GPU.

I'm having similar issues; video and adio is both laggy and choppy, in and out of full screen.

My specs are;
2GB of RAM
1.6Ghz
Windows XP.

The silly thing is is that it was working fine yesterday. I played a couple of episodes of HDtv with it to just check how well my new PC would handle it (my old one would freeze up if I played HD stuff). But this morning I'm having nothing but trouble and that's with a standard definition .avi file. I don't know what's gone wrong.

[EDIT]

I restarted my computer to see f that would make a difference and it seems to have worked. Not sure exactly what was wrong wth it before, but it seems fine again now.

I have:
Windows Vista
1.8 Ghz
1 gb RAM
DirectX 9.0c

The playback is choppy. Can't see any A/V sync problems.

Thanks for helpfull tips. Downloaded 0.9.4 today and tried to change output module. It helped and even gave a sharper image.
