Issues with VLC

Postby BraveStarr » 27 Jul 2008 18:40

Hello all,

Just a quick question. I use VLC quite often and always notice that everytime I click a video and VLC is running, it will shrink the video screen to the video size, even when the maximize button is active. It also resets the volume to where it was before.

Is there a way to have VLC always open to in maximize screen (Not full screen) and to maintain the volume at the last known setting? Thank you in advance for any responses.

I haven't found maximize on start option, but could force VLC to use certain resolution. Volume reset seems little strange. In my case single click doesn't change anything. Double click goes to fullscreen mode.

Hello all,

i would also like VLC to start Videos maximized but not in full sceen.
Is there any Option in 0.9.2 that does the needful?
i tried to set to height and width manually but i dont find the matching parameters to my 1280x1024 desktop, everything i tried was either too large or too small :(
Please give me some hints,

Thx

There is no such option. Fill a bug request.

Just create a shortcut to vlc.exe.
One property of the lets you specify whether to open the application maximized, minimized or normal.
Here is a screenshot from my machine, using WinXP SP2 (german version): Properties of a shortcut.

Never tried this, but perhaps (until a solution is implemented) you could rewrite the file associations such that your shortcut is used instead of vlc.exe directly. Usually these associations are stored in Extras > Folder options > File types (I hope this is how it's called in english versions; in the german version it's: Extras > Ordneroptionen > Dateitypen).
