If you are having troubles with the new version, which is also slower and has a skin developed by someone who has to be blind.. get the old VLC 0. > http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... -win32.zip

Your post has quite few interest... everybody is lucid enough to know by himself if he prefer VLC 0.9.2 or 0.8.6...

Maybe you run a very old PC with a 640x480 display resolution ? =)

How is it slower ? It is way faster here.

What is the problem with the new interface and the blindness?

Things I've noticed (this is only after about an hour or so of use, I'm sure I'll find more):
1. QT4 skin kills commands coming from my ATI remote.
2. Skins2 makes it impossible to watch video from my TV tuner card. (video is flashing constantly).
3. I got an empty DirectX window popping up when playing any video stream/file. This was fixed by resetting VLC settings but I have no idea how it happened in the first place.
4. If I have a page with the VLC browser plug-in open and also the main VLC program, the program crashes when I try to close it.
5. VLC no longer plays XM radio stream (very briefly displays "Login Error" in the status bar)

I have a 23" TFT. :) This new VLC is awful, the bar at the bottom that keeps track of the time is always flashing when I enter OpenGL output mode..

It has its problems but keep in mind it's a brand new release, with a completely overhauled UI. If the devs can get the bugs out, it will be a far superior product to the old 0.8 line.

Now if only they could fix the bugs I want first.. :)

They should have done beta tests then.. 0.8.6 was near perfect, this is complete downside..

Well, you didn't test the beta, nor ANY of the release candidate.

Moreover, this is just what you mean by blind man ?
Don't use OpenGL output, it is slow.

I uninstalled 0.9.2, videos jittery/laggy and the menu screen that appears now at the bottom of movies sometimes disappears and then it doesn't, and then sometimes it just keeps popping in an out...

0.9.2 isn't as stable as 0.8.6, that's for sure.

I truly APPLAUD all the work and changes, but it shouldn't of been realeased quite yet...

I headed towards the forum with no hope of finding other ppl having these feelings. I _loved_ VLC, and it was my default player for everything.

When I saw the new release I was giddy as a schoolgirl and at first I was _relativly_ pleased with the GUI and it seemed to work. Yet, after a few days now I can confirm to myself that the .9.2 release suffers _ON MY SETUP_ from random crashes, serious performance issues and slight bugs here and there that are mere annoyances but the crashing and sluggish responsivness is too much :( -- and no my hardware is high end and my flat screen is 25", so that's not it.

This is very very sad, especially since the release before that was almost _perfect_ having only needed a little polish and I would have nothing to complain about.

My appreciation to the devs for the good times and I will check in from time to time for updates.

P.S. Some day telnet has to work on the Windows-releases too, I hope.
