0.9.2 controlls keep poping up in fullscreen!

Postby Jelle Mees » 18 Sep 2008 11:05

I uninstalled 0.8.6d today and I installed 0.9.2. To be completely honest, I am not a big fan of the new interface, but that's not why I started this topic.

When I go to fullscreen the controlls keep popping up. At first I thaught it was my mouse, but I moved my cursor in the center of the screen so see if it was my mouse, but it's not.
It's very ennoying to watch a movie where a box keeps on popping up while watching.

Is there anything I can do about this very ennoying pop-up?

How? I registered but still can't seem to do anything with the ticket. The problem discribed there is the problem I am having.
I am not using Vista but XP.

The bug was reported a month ago and still isn't fixed? Wow...

Well, after reading the bug-report by that other user, I already knew how to fix it.
But thanks for your reply.

Hope it gets fixed soon, well, I don't really care, just don't want VLC to be known as a buggy application.

Well, If someone can help me fix it by testing this week end, that would be great...

Yeah this issue is really pi$$ing me off. VideoLAN used to have no annoying little traits usually, but 0.9.2 has since become very annoying and with more bugs than ive noticed in previous releases. Got so bad i had to install media player classic so i didnt put my fist through my widescreen every time a control bar popped up. And the randomness with which the video window embeds itself or doesnt, seemingly unrelated to the actual settings for this (not to mention trying to get control of the window back, or better yet two windows being open, one with video, one with a control bar), also makes me mad :) Whats happening over here at VideoLAN, did some monkey get loose in the coding room or what. This release is terrible....not something i thought id ever say about VideoLAN......

And can i ask where the 0.9.3 is thats refered to? its not on the site....

Well...most frustrating is when you have VLC already open, and then double click a video file...you think it would open in the existing window...nope, it opens the video in the existing window, but opens another window with a control interface over the top.....

Toggling the "integrate video into interface" option on, negates this. If you open VLC and then double click a video file it opens in the existing window, no second interface this time, but, when you hit stop, the interface disappears, and vlc is still running in the background. If you then double click a video file, it opens in the existing instance of vlc, behind all other windows, and in full screen, although fullscreen is not set as a preference. If you have not set the option for controls in fullscreen, then you get none, if you do have controls enabled, they display the random appearance act that was the issue in the first place.

Complete madness :)

I think most folks would want, if they had set "integrate into interface" options set, to have it by default not launch fullscreen and without controls, or maybe its just me

Indeed I've had this issue as well, if you few my short post history you'll see I was doing some streaming video via browsers with VLC. That doesn't work at all in 0.9.2, if I roll back to 0.8 it's fine and the video streams again.

I think they tried to pretty VLC up when it really didn't need it.

The other things that annoy me which I've noticed is the extra fly out menu when you right click, setting subtitles, aspect ratios and most importantly 5.1 channel audio is now an extra menu away.

Adding an item to a playlist with a movie already playing instantly starts playing the new item. Very annoying, and different behavior to prior versions.

Seeking thru large videos is slower as well in 0.9.2.

Ah well can't win with every release I guess.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick fix in the nightlies.

I seem to have encountered another problem though, I found that clicking anywhere on the full screen controls now causes the start menu to appear. To make it go away you have to click anywhere on the video, which is a bit of a nuisance. The full screen controls appear and disappear as they should, its just that the start menu will show up after you click somewhere on the video timeline, and it won't go away unless you click the video.

Please look into this, if it possible.

he speaks about the Windows Taskbar
and, plus this issue, the main windows appears like this sometimes :

Image

in the last branch (20080923-0207)

still about this controller, and still in this last nightly :
- the controller isn't centered, (at least in 1024x768), it s a bit too much on the right (won't screen that, it should be clear enough =) )
even when moving it and saving the prefs, at relaunch it will reappear not centered, a bit on the right.
- in Minimal Look, the controller displays normally (except the two bugs explained above)... but in "Separated mode" (Classic look but video not integrated in the main interface), no controller appears at all.

Hello,

I just downloaded vlc-0.9.3-git-20080924-0205-win32.exe and the controls still pop up when playing .MP4 and OpenGL is used as the default video output. When playing divx or xvid videos everything seems to be fine for now.

Here's video's information:

Thanks.

Yes, I meant the taskbar, not the start menu.
