Extension ".ps" (postscript) associated to VLC media player

Postby krause » 10 Sep 2008 12:57

Hello

I have come across a strange problem using VLC 0.8.6i: the extension "ps" is assigned to VLC. But this extension stands for postscript file. I have found almost no information regading this problem but I detected a topic here, where this issue was discussed three years ago:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12928&p=39916&hilit ... ipt#p39916

To me it looks as if this should have been fixed a long time ago... Any information on this?

Ok - so is this something that will be fixed? I'm not sure about how I'll have to understand your posting...

Maybe I should do a patch that fixes this and post it to mailing list.

.ps is not a valid extension for the MPEG PS format. The extensions generally excepted are .mpg and .mpeg

It appears the installer is in error.

http://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/v ... 49982.html you can found it from there.

But you have to manually apply patch to sources, compile new build and create new installer (which isn't trivial)
