latest vlc-0.9.0 and x264 in HD

The latest code of VLC-0.9.0 for windows crashed again when i close it. Here is a debug hope it helps.
vlc.exe caused an Access Violation at location 048c9338 Reading from location 048c9338.

I was using it to watch HD(1904,1072) video encoded with x264 with ac3 2ch audio in matroska container, it is having trouble decoding h264 video in real time during fast motion scenes. It was using single core at 60% of a 2 core cpu. Where as if I use media player classic with ffdshow, playback was smooth.

Those debug messages are useless (if you know coding, you can do backtraces). Are you sure about the resolution? (1920x1080 maybe)
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=49129 you tried those builds?

Was playing vlc.exe in gdb under msys. with run -vvv
These log msg looks normal? basically flooded the terminal i think it started from 0 lol.
however the video didn't get a chance to start while the audio started.

Got another crash by enable Advanced Controls.
weird that this bug is coming back ?? i thought it has been fixed?

BTW this vlc i am testing with is dated 2008 Aug 16.

Okay this so called "Advanced Controls" menu, Does Not, crash on default preferences. This crash only occurs after I go into preferences turn on "Show Advanced Options"; QT4 "Advanced options" "Show Advanced Preferences over simple ones" set Video out to "DirectX" check Audio Out DirectX "use Float32 output" go turn off "Fullscreen Controller" and browse all the preference Pages and then click "Save". :cry: :cry:

Well, vlc.exe crashed again while I was in preferences page for no reason I accidentally double click *Somewhere* on the Preferences window and it just crashed with no useful debug information at all.

at components/interface_widgets.cpp:924
if( advControls && !b_advancedVisible )

it crashed on a conditional statement and doesn't crash when "C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\vlc" has been deleted and no preferences been set.
There must be something wrong with the saved preferences settings then???

ok finally found out its the "Show fullscreen controller" at fault.

Simply Disable "Show a controller in fullscreen mode" to reproduce crash.


Somebody should review the show fullscreen controller code...
