VLC 0.9.0 issues in current built

Postby gaziggi » 06 Aug 2008 13:21

I don't know if this has been brought up, but the issues I'm currently facing with 0.9.0 are:

* Cannot select Deinterlacing option as default in preferences. I have to install 0.8.6, select the option, uninstall 0.8.6 and reinstall 0.9.0 for it to work.
* Deinterlacing enabled places subtitles on the middle of the screen as opposed to the bottom
* I have to manually select the aspect ratio for the video to look right. I didn't have to do that with 0.8.6

While a movie is playing, I now have to select the deinterlacing option, select the aspect ratio and subtitle for it all to work.

Otherwise 0.9.0 fixes the audio break up issue I had when I selected SPDIF playback in 0.8.6. If these issues can be resolved, I cannot go back to Windows Media Player to play my DVDs.

To reproduce the crash, do the following:

1. Go to Tools -> Preferences
2. Select "all" down the bottom left hand corner
3. Double click Video and click filters
4. Tick Deinterlacing video filter
5. Select Save

Thanks for that. Even the subtitle issue has been fixed.

However I'm still finding that I have to select the aspect ratio manually. Windows Media Player shows it in the correct aspect ratio. Is there no way of it to detect the resolution of the screen to work the default setting?

Well it looks like most of the issues have been resolved in the latest build. I reckon that if you wanted to bring out the player as a beta version, it would be safe to do so.

Please make a ticket on the aspect ratio issue.
Can someone tell me how I can make a ticket? Thanks.

Another issue I experience is when a video is paused or when it comes to selecting an option on a DVD menu, it creates this fading effect. When I can upload an image of it on imageshack, I will display a screen shot.

We are coming closer to a release.
