VOB erratic playback

Hello,
I'm using VLC with XP. I use the ui mainly.
I have several movies in VOB format, each is about 30 min.
When I open a vob for the first time it plays perfectly...
Butn when the movie is finished or before finish and I open another VOB file... the new vob plays erraticaly... sound is ok but video is erratic.
There's no artifacting ot garbage... simply the video is erratic: like jumping frames.
To watch the new movie I must close/reopen VLC but even that sometimes is not enough...
Any idea what can be happening?

I'm using an AMD Semprom running at 4GHz with 4GB DDR2 RAM. The HDD is 320G. Video card is ATI Radeon 3400 with 256MB video ram. This PC is used for video editing normally and works perfect so I don't think it is a HW problem.
