VLC 0.8.6e crash if the remote RTSP server is unavailable

Dear Sir:

I have downloaded 0.8.6e to connect a remote RTSP server.
VLC crashes in msvcrt.dll after several tens of seconds if the server is down(non-exist at the URL) while VLC of version 0.8.6d doesn't.
It should pop up failure to connect or something.
I have installed and tested on two different PCs.
The results are the same.
