left channel

Postby toneyx » 09 Mar 2008 23:05

Hi, I'm new in this forum. I'm using VLC version 0.8.6d for the purpose playing videoke files. How can I set it to left channel (default) temporarily? Every time I play a file goes back to stereo mode. Anybody knows how to set it tentatively or give me a command line? I'm using built-in Realtek sound from my motherboard. Thanks!

--sout-mono-channel=0
that should keep just the left channel

How do I do it by using this command? --sout-mono-channel=0 Will be more specific?

start -> run -> cmd
c:\software\vlc\vlc.exe --sout-mono-channel=0

you can also add --sout-mono-channel=0 to you shortcut be pressing right mouse over VLC shortcut and choosing properties and in shortcut tab change to target box
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --sout-mono-channel=0

PS. You have to change those file locations if they aren't same on your machine.

I followed your instructions in both options but it says:
"The command line options couldn't be loaded, check that they are valid."

You are correct. It seems that all mono and channel mixing options have vanished from current VLC builds and also from nightly builds. I don't know the reason, but you could try some older VLC versions.

What older versions do you recommend? I tried 7 and 8 versions but it didn't work.

If it doesn't work with 0.7.x or 0.8.x series, I don't know if it ever has worked =) You should add this as a feature request.
