Capture with multiple capture devices

Hi,

I want to capture multiple capture devices from 1 computer.
I have noticed that it's possible to capture with multiple devices if they are all from a different vendor and therefore have a different name. (Each instance of VLC is using a different capture device)
But if the capture devices all have the same name it doesn't work.
Of course i only want to use capture devices from 1 vendor/from the same type.

Is there a workaround for this problem? or is this a feature that will be available in one of the next vlc releases?
This would really come in handy

There is a thread about this issue and solution is to edit device name of the another device. (couldn't find that thread)
There is another thread for editing VLC's sourcecode and compile it to get support for enumeration

Alright, thx.
I already tried the source code editing, but i'm not a C developer and i had some problems compiling.
I'll have a look at the "how to" on compiling you just send me.
