Problem with video wall filter with 3 cols and 1 row

Postby Spellman » 02 Dec 2007 07:41

I can't make it work the video wall filter with 3 cols and 1 row.
I think there is a bug in the video wall library (windows version at least)

To check this try with less than 2 cols or less than 2 rows.
For example 3 rows and 1 col or 3 cols and 1 row. Boths examples didn't work well.

In my case, 3 cols and 1 row do nothing. Just a simple clone without the croping...

I try in differents PC with differents hardware and configurations...

Any solution???

Please! Help!

thanks

VLC version: OVER 9000!!!
Operating System: It's...blue screen
Location: Heaven? No no. What's that other place that starts with an "H"? Oh yes: Home. ^_^

It doesn't work well. I don't have display/hardware or settings problem.

I can do this with VLC version 0.8.1 but with newers versions I can't.

with 0.8.1 I have 3 windows, with 1/3 of the image each. (1/3 left, 1/3 center, 1/3 right)

but with 0.8.6d and others versions I have 3 windows with the entire image each (100% left, 100% center, 100% right)

It doesn't matter the aspect ratio, I try with a lot of aspect ratio. 4:3, 12:3, 11.5:3, 4:1....

If I try with 0.8.6d with more than 1 row I didn't have any problem. For this reason I think there is a bug in the library. And it was introduced after the 0.8.1 version of VLC.

Trying 2x2 or 3x2 I have excellents results, but I need 3x1 video wall mode... Please!

The problem is this:

VLC fail doing video wall with 3 cols and 1 row, screen capture with 0.8.6d - 0.8.2:

VLC 0.8.1 work fine doing video wall 3x1, this is the screen capture:

Do you understand?

Thanks for your help!

Well it couldn't be that there's a problem with VLC version preceding 0.8.1 because I at one time had it working on VLC 0.8.6a. So basically it's just cloning the main image three times. Unfortunately I'm not able to test this today but I'll give it a try tomorrow, hopefully if I remember. :P By that time someone else would've come in this thread and fixed your problem. :)

Edit: sorry, I was creating this post at the time you posted your second comment.

Another thing, I try in many modes, here is the results:
2 cols and 1 row work fine (2 windows, 50% each)
3 cols 1 row - bad (3 windows but cloning full image on each window)
4 cols 1 row - bad (2 windows 50% of image each)
5 cols 1 row - bad (same as 3cols1row)
1 col 2 rows - good (2 windows, 50% each)
1 col 3 rows - bad (3 windows with garbage and the app crash)
1 col 4 rows - bad (same as 4cols1row)
1 col 5 rows - bad (same as 1col3rows)
2x2 good
3x3 good
2x3 good
3x2 good

I think the problem is when I select 1 row or 1 col...

I use only OPENGL because I get better graphics performance...
I try only with NVidia graphics cards, 6200, 7600GT, 6600...
I didn't try with ATI or another but I don't think that is the problem.
