Streaming internet media from vlc

Postby pcd » 22 Oct 2007 16:11

Hi,

I can at present stream and play media files stored on the pc hdd on the tv via a set top box (dreambox) using cifs. Dreambox with cifs can only play .ts format, therefore for other formats like mpg, divx etc, I use vlc to transcode to a .ts file on pc before playing 'on the fly' on tv.

The problem is that this method is only ok for fixed length media files. For live streaming from the internet I need to create a .ts buffer file as output from vlc. Or use the vlc stream buffer directly. Is this possible ?

I will be grateful for any suggestion.

Regards, pcd.
