vlc fails to stream video that works with wmp

The following url will stream with Windows Media Player but not with VLC:

http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nba ... als_g4.asx

It pops up the error dialog with the following contents:

Unable to open 'mms://wm1-cm.edgestreams.net/e1/09/e10940d1c43edc86b4bed87979394a56-44731c88.asf?auth=caEblbVamaidWdFasaBaEczcBdic9ddbRdh-bhed2a-kJa-Gwh&aifp=0001'
Unable to open 'mms://gwms33.streamos.com/33/e1/09/e10940d1c43edc86b4bed87979394a56-44731c88.asf?ts=1192246656&ttl=43200&cs=BC28EB53EC5B64A042EAFA6BB72D3A13E410F8AB'

Any ideas?

This is on XP sp2, with vlc 0.8.6c.

Some mms streams don't work on VLC.

Yeah, it allowed me to view the stream and save it to disk, thanks. But, even the saved stream has the multiple popped up windows...any easy way to get rid of them and get back a normal single video?
