Due to my current needs I need to build VLC on windows or cygwin. Has anyone done this successfully and can help me build it? I will appreciate any help.

Thanks

I followed these instructions but it failed using the VLC Trunk from the automatic updates.

I have now got it to compile using the tar balls for VLC and Contrib. Use the configure script described with the --enable-dca mod.
When I installed cygwin I used the default unix file end option. After failing to compile VLC Trunk I re-installed with the DOS/Win option which has now worked on the vlc-0.9.0-svn folder. Not retried trunk.
