Assertion failed! File vm.c Line 1742

Postby spade » 15 Jun 2006 13:22

Hello,
When I tried to play a DVD with VLC and got the error:

Code: Select all

Assertion failed! Program: C: ... vlc.exe File: vm.c Line: 1742 Expression: pgcit != NULL
I got this with 0.8.5, uninstalled it and tried 0.8.4a which gave me the same error. I didn't get this error before I upgraded to 0.8.5.
Where do I go from here?
Frank

Yeah, this seems to be specific to DVDs without a startup menu. check out the link (http://forums.vso-software.fr/viewtopic.php?p=2469#2469), it's an extensive discussion - and no solution.
I have the same problem.

Thanks,

I haven't seen that problem in a while ...

Kind regards,

Well, I have seen that assertion again.

This is the situation:
I have created an image with Pinnacle Studion 10. This can be played with Windows Media Player, Nero Show Time or Pinnacle Media Manager with no problem. When I use VLC 0.8.6c I get said assertion error. Can I help further to pinpoint the problem?

Kind regards,

Frank

I'm getting it too after updating:

Assertion failed!
Program: C:\Program Files\VideoLan\VLC\vlc.exe
File: ../.././src/text/strings.c
Line:1120

Expression: path [0]==DIR_SEP_CHAR

For information on how your programme can cause an asserstion
failure, see the Visual C++ doccumentation on asserts

(Press Retry to debug the application - JIT must be enabled)

When I hit retry it just closes out and when I restart it it asks if I want to send a bug report....

:(

P.S I am listening to an audio file - not trying to open a dvd :?

P.P.S Admittedly it opens if I click on an individual track, but if I try to open a folder to play all - it does the 'Assertion Fail' thing. :-|

WestKiwi: don't wake up OLD threads. Your issue is fixed in upcoming VLC 1.1.3
