[BUG?] No sound from DVD

Postby Lucas Malor » 03 Sep 2007 17:57

A friend of mine can't hear the sounds from a DVD, or a video file on a DVD, with VLC. If he opens the DVD with WMP, there's no problem. I opened the DVDs with Gspot, and all video and sound codecs are ok.

I must say I can hear the sound of the same DVDs on my PC, with the same Windows OS, the same VLC version and settings. Could be a problem of the dvd player? The sound cable of the dvd player? Some software incompatibility? Some mess on his pc?

We use VLC 0.8.6c, Windows XP sp2.

try changing the audio output module in the preferences (better, update the audio drivers and directx)
