No Sound. sometimes in vlc

Postby nels » 03 Sep 2007 17:01

A file will play audio and video in Windows Media Player. The same file played by VLC has no audio. CloudStalker directed me this far. (Thanks).

Stream and Video Info Advanced
Stream 0 Codec mpgv Language: Type:Video
Stream 2 Codec mpga Language: Type: Audio

Other files play audio in VLC. Any ideas?

PS. Does anybody have a hint about posting data from dialog boxes without retyping it? Highligh & copy seems inoperable.

You can also start messages (Ctrl+m) and after that open the file and look for possible audio errors.

I'm not sure how to open the file. I double click to play the file in vlc, if that's what you mean by open. Or right click and chose open with/ Windows Media Plater. Then control+m produces: nothing.
I can not get past the fact that Media Player delivers audio, but the same file played in vlc is silent.
Sorry to be so dense. But, I really would like to learn.

Operating System: It's...blue screen
Location: Heaven? No no. What's that other place that starts with an "H"? Oh yes: Home. ^_^

Did you try changing the Audio output in the Preferences > Audio > Output modules ("DirectX audio output" or "Win32 waveOut extension output")?
