Audio stopped working

Postby rayne » 09 Aug 2007 23:28

I watched something without audio mainly to make a few screenshots while listening to music, then I just closed the player without turning the audio on again.
Ever since then whenever I open a media file (mpg, avi, whatever), the audio stopped working. The sign for audio is striked through, but when I click on it to active audio again, it doesn't do anything but blinking up and going back to being striked through = no audio. So I don't have sound anymore for anything I wanna watch! :(
I've tried upgrading to the newest version, but that didn't help...

This is a problem I had with VLC 0.8.6_. Select VLC and go to Tools > Preferences > Audio and change the volume slider to 256 (default), save and restart VLC. It should now be working again.

You'll just have to remember to un-mute the audio before exiting VLC. I think this problem has been resolved for VLC 0.9.0.
