This hasn't always happened. I just updated to 0.8.6c and all of a sudden my VLC crashes when I run a MKV file. I don't know if my updating FFDShow has effected this or not.

Do i need copy and paste any other information to get help on this?

FFDshow has nothing to do with it. Maybe posting "Stream and Media Info" would help.
