Video Wall

Postby remico2 » 18 Apr 2007 02:10

Hi all,

I'm trying to build a video wall with 4 monitors. When I use the wall filter I get the seperated and cropped video windows, but when I set them to full screen, VLC stops and I get an windows error.

Also when I try to deinterlace a video stream from a Pinnacle 110i capture card. My video is disapearing... Any Ideas?

Many thanks,

Remco

What is the nature of the error?

Try shutting off "Overlay video output" in Preferences, Video.

issues streaming a video over a wall

Postby CarlO_321 » 23 Apr 2007 17:58

Hi,
I am trying to stream a video, split over 4 PCs, each driving a tile of the wall, but
a) While locally it works, on the nodes I am not able to get it split, but just the full video replicated on every node. Here are my commands:
vlc -vvv VTS_01_1.VOB --vout=Direct3D --vout-filter=wall --wall-cols=2 --wall-rows=2 --wall-active --intf=dummy --filter=deinterlace --deinterlace-mode=linear --sout=udp:10.1.1.1
By the way, for a wall is it preferable/possible multicast or a repeated unicast?
b) the deinterlace-mode is not actived.
Any suggestion is most welcome: thank you very much for the assistance,
Best regards,
Carlo

The wall filter was designed to use multiple video cards and or monitor outputs in a computer to make up a wall of monitors that display one complete picture. I know there is a way to sync computers together to make an even larger video wall but it becomes quite complex in that the delay between machines must be accounted for and the positioning of the pieces must be done manually by dragging the pieces onto each monitor.

Given you are trying with two computers and two monitors and seemingly no multiple outputs or monitors this filter is impractical for your purpose.

It would take a developer to comment and or help on this one.
