What is the Codec DMO Switch?

Some moderator told me its something I need to try to resolve my current issue but failed to mention what this Codec DMO Switch was or where to find it.

No I didn't! It is not in preferences. It is something YOU need to add to a new shortcut. Go read the original post. The use of the switch allows the Direct Show codecs to be used for WMV3 or WVC-1 instead of FFmpeg as also stated in the original post.
