VLC not playing Xvid Audio

Postby ericed » 11 Apr 2007 19:02

Ok, I download BBC's Planet Earth. When I play it in VLC there is no narration, only the music. When I play it in Windows Media Player, a Divx icon appears in my tray and it plays the narration. Anyway to get the audio to play in VLC. I dont like WMP. Thanks

Press ctrl i while trying to play the file and go to the Advanced Info... tab. Post that here.

This has come around once or twice before in A/52 (AC3) audio and the source of the problem is unknown as is the fix. Try selecting 5.1 surround sound.

The reporting was 2 channels encoded and 5.1 uses a combination of real channels and a sum and difference. So the only thing that makes sense is there was a cancellation for the way it was encoded.
