Video and audio problems

Postby Annso » 02 Apr 2007 20:39

Hello,
I've installed VLC media player on my computer. I've got the video and the sound but it doesn't work properly as the software is reading the file very slowly.
Can somebody help me please?
Thanks a lot,
Annso

Try updating your audio card's drivers.

But before you do this, open your Task Manager and look at CPU usage. If the usage is at or near 90 to 100% your computer is to slow to play this file, generally for the resolution of the file.

All digital video is follow audio for sync. So if the audio is not accepting control from the program or controlling the video properly, nothing can be right.

In my case the CPU usage is at or near 100% when I try to play a DVD.
The result is choppy audio and video. Pentium II, 300mhz, 128 mb RAM.
Will this improve if I upgrade the RAM to 256?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Today the task of playing a DVD is handed off to the video card through DirectX and VLC uses only 1 to 2% for the CPU.
