Preferences, Audio, Output modules, DirectX "Output device" then press Save and close the player.

In Windows the device you want to use for Windows sounds must be locked. Default = NOT locked. Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Audio "Use only default devices"

Hey DJ,

thank you it works! But i have still one question. In witch order are the Audiodevices listed? I can choose a number in the selectfield. I have 4 Audiodevices in the sequence listed below.

SigmatelAudio
Virtual Cable 1 Out
Virtual Cable 2 Out
C-Media USB Sound Device

Which number do they have in VLC?

Windows sound system is 0 (the locked device) and the others would be Windows order for priority of plug in for devices starting with 1 in VLC.
