Capture Card Suggestions?

Postby schicki » 04 Mar 2007 22:31

Hi everyone,

so I've been on the hunt of trying to buy a card that will work 100% with VLC under WinXP. I looked at the hardware compatibility list and the choices are rather poor. Does anyone have a card that they can recommend that will work 100% without any issues? I just went to the store and got Hauppauge WinTV 150 MCE and that one doesn't work well, I can't do direct streams and all suggestions I tried didn't work either. I need a card where I can do direct mpeg2 stream from the card without any compression since I want to stream the video to another room in the same house.

Thanks!

Doing lossless MPEG 2 would make the bit rate so high that the resulting file would not stream in standard DVD resolutions. While it may in NTSC resolutions, I'm not aware of a card that will do what you suggest.

WintTV-350 goes very well. But it is an old capture card.
