Video Streaming With Firefox

Postby Faust » 16 Feb 2007 17:57

I do not have windows media player installed at all, but have VLC including the firefox plugin installed but video streaming does not seem to work. when I try and play videos firefox says I don't have the required plugin installed and some sites like the BBC just assume you have WMP and send you straight to microsoft when they realize you haven't. is there anyway to make this work including tricking sites like the BBC into thinking VLC is WMP?

Jorn, that's helpful but isn't a preferred fix. Naturally backtracking versions isn't what most of us would want to do.

Hopefully the developers will get this sorted out.
