Android videos in Windows

I have Windows 7 and transferred some videos from my Android phone but can't read them. Any idea what to do (apart from buying a more recent PC...)

What is your hardware, especially CPU and GPU ?

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.
Also upload a short sample of your original problematic file to WeTransfer.com or Disroot.org and then post the link to the file here.

200 MB max should be enough but a full complete short file is better.

I did this but where is the log? All I saw was the status bar ran from left to right and nothing happened

Other MP4 play fine and some from the same Android source work

You open the messages window from the menu Tools -> Messages before you start the playback,
At the bottom of this window you set Verbosity to 2,
You keep the messages window open during the whole process and then you play your file,
Once done you can save the messages log with the Save As button and/or copy and paste it on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it .

We also need a sample file, read my previous post again.

Maybe because it's very short (2.601 s) ?
Anyway, no player I've tried could play it.

I tried with e longer file and it is the same but I tried another file and sent it by Gmail. It promptly said it could not preview the file and asked if I wanted to download - which I did. The when I tried to read it I had a choice of video players, including VLC and Window Media player, both of which worked perfectly.!
I can't do this with bigger files due to email size restrictions
Go figure..
