HLS stream error

Hello,

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 with a ppa version of VLC(2.1.0-git Rincewind) which I installed for the HLS capability.
I am trying to play this stream:
http://videocdn-us.geocdn.scaleengine.n ... ylist.m3u8
Which works for at least two other users with same PPA version.
I however am getting this error:

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://videocdn-us.geocdn.scaleengine.n ... ylist.m3u8'. Check the log for details.

And the terminal output is:

Seems like fails to connect to localhost of all things, does anyone know what could cause this?

Check your web proxy settings.

D'oh! that was it. completely forgot about setting a proxy ages ago. thanks a lot
