Hi,

I wanted to know how can we set vlc to capture the microphone of my soundcard and the speaker output ?

In case it can help : my objective is to be able to multicast it over my LAN. It does not matter if I need two instances of vlc for it.

I have found some poor information about it ... something about putting alsa:// as input .... however I am using pulseaudio in my operating system and it is not specified how to put what is after the starting url ...

Someone can help me about this ?

Thank you.

The situation :

I am using ubuntu 11.10 64 bit.

My sound server is pulseaudio

I have vlc 1.1.12 installed with vlc-pulse and vlc-alsa plugin.

To capture from PulseAudio, you need VLC 2.0.

Thank you very much ... it is indeed appearing.

There is also a video capture device appearing but the list is empty ... how does it work / what I need to do to have something appearing here ?

from the command line, this new feature works like a basic playlist ?

Best regards !

Video capture device list is empty if there are no video input devices connected to the computer.

If you want screen capture, then there is a separate category for that.
