VLC plugin for Chrome/Chromium browser

Hi all,

OS: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Browser: Chrome

I have an iptv on a multicast address streaming to my computer elsewhere via RJ45 (ethernet) cable. The stream is very unstable on the Totem plugin while it is rock solid on VLC media player. The Totem stream seems stable but after a while, the display starts framing and I have to close the application and restart it.

When I disable the totem plugin and enable the VLC plugin for the Chrome browser, I get a "Missing Plugin" message in the video frame. If the stream is working fine on VLC whats keeping it from pushing the same stream to the browser?

The iptv is a Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) and is is streaming in MPEG 2 video format.

Any help in the matter would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Very likely because Chromium doesn't support Xt plugins...

Is there any known workaround? Am I required to otherwise write a C program to take the stream from VLC and pipe it to the browser?
