[Ubuntu] Crash when attempting to open network stream

Postby yugiohfan2010 » 27 Jun 2011 06:47

Recently I attempted to open a network stream in VLC media player version 1.1.9 on Ubuntu version 11.04 Natty Narwhal. The network stream almost starts, and it wants to play, but then, suddenly, VLC media player disappears as if it has crashed. I have tried to play the same network stream in VLC media player version 1.1.9 on Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit edition with Service Pack 2, and have had no problems there. This leads me to believe I'm missing some critical step in trying to play the network stream in Ubuntu.

What's the deal here?

reproduce the crash with logs enabled (vlc -vv in a console)
And provide a backtrace with gdb.

I will, of course, do that the next time I find a network stream for VLC media player to play.
