hello, i recently installed the new version of vlc and it's freezing my system very often. Here's a log:

Code: Select all

[0x85e6014] main input debug: control: stopping input [0x8324a0c] main playlist debug: dying input [0x85ec24c] main decoder warning: received buffer in the future [0x85ec24c] avcodec decoder debug: ffmpeg codec (Windows Media Audio 2) stopped [0x85ec24c] main decoder debug: removing module "avcodec" [0x85ec24c] main decoder debug: killing decoder fourcc `WMA2', 42 PES in FIFO [0x8626144] main audio filter debug: removing module "audio_format" [0x8624274] main audio filter debug: removing module "scaletempo" [0x8636b2c] main audio filter debug: removing module "ugly_resampler" [0x86185f4] pulse audio output debug: Pulse Close
I'm using ubuntu 11.04 but it was the same on ubuntu 10.10. I uninstalled pulse plugin, but it was no help.

I'm facing the same issue.
Ubuntu 11.4 + VLC 1.1.9
The memory leak (as it seems to be) appends generaly after 3 minutes of video playback (currently a file XVID MPEG-4 + MP3)

What informations can I give to the community, to help debugging ? any log to dump here ?

I can think of two helpful pieces of informations:
- a patch with explanations,
or
- a set of steps for reliable and accurate reproduction of the problem.

I am not omniscient. I cannot fix bugs that I cannot see.

As I can understand your subliminal answer, there is'nt any log file fill by VLC to inspect, or any development library to install in order to have usefull informations.
Me neither, I'am not omniscient, just want to sort my issue (our the issue, as we are already two on this forum to face it), but I can't tell you anything if I don't now were to look (ther is nothing in the system logs).

there's another topic about this viewtopic.php?f=13&t=90153
you should set audio to ALSA instead of pulse or defualt.
