Problems with VDPAU

Postby Darabrob2 » 27 Mar 2011 01:04

Hi guys,

I recently set up Ubuntu 10.10 and installed VLC 1.14 from the standard repository.
I'm using a Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT with the proprietary Nvidia drivers and have installed the vdpau-va-driver package.
The two hardware acceleration options ('Accelerated video output' in Video and 'Use GPU acceleration' in Input&Codecs) are checked in the preferences.
Nevertheless, when I try to play a 1080p HD video the output is extremely laggy (lost frames, artifacts and everything) and the CPU usage is high, so I take
it the hardware acceleration is not working.
VLC produces the following output:

Any ideas on how to fix this are highly appreciated.
