Problem with Hotkeys

My computer have Play/Pause/Skip/Previous/Etc. buttons and I am trying to set up VLC Player with those buttons. Whenever I go to the Hotkeys Preferences and try to set a hotkey with one of the buttons it doesn't do it unless I press another button PLUS the Play/Pause/Skip/Previous/Etc. button. I have a HP Pavilion Dv6629us. Anybody knows how to make it work?

It sounds like another application has captured the key you want. To fix this, you need to disable or reconfigure that application.

Well they usually work with any audio or video program. So I'm guessing it should work with VLC also but it doesn't. The buttons aren't setup for as specific program.

Same symptoms, same diagnostic, same solution.
but how, how, how, HOW!?!?

Diagnostic!? - Please may you advice me how to proceed to set it correctly.
I am searching, googling like a crazy, but still no SOLUTION!

What I have seen and tried until now:
There is already config of my remote listed on the lirc website (http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/hp/HSTNN-PRO7). I have copied it into the /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
But as before, I still can not configure those buttons on my remote in vlc.
For example those play/pause; stop; forward; rewind buttons are fully functional in audacious, BUT not in vlc.

I have also tried other remote buttons on the xev in terminal, but as I see there is probably no signal/reaction while pressing those special "quicklaunch" buttons: DVD, Media, WinMediaCenter.

Please advice me for what info and where/in which logs, config files should I look for. As I have no idea anymore. Please help me some other way, not only generally:
Same symptoms, same diagnostic, same solution.
Please dont take it as attack, I am just a frustrated newbie.

Sorry for my english

ouuu yeaaah, now I have it... Really thanks!

How !? How can I find that app which is capturing my hotkeys?
I wouldn't ask if I were able to find it on my own...
But you are probably one of the geek's which is too smart to give a clear advice HOW to find it out

Sorry for that, but you are writting the same SMART advice for the second time on one page and it really hasn't helped again.

We are VLC developers. Not developers of all of the world's application. We don't know.
