Problem with files with "+" symbol in them

Im using Arch Linux and VLC 1.1.1. I have an mp3 with a "+" in its name, and if I try playing it by double-clicking on it VLC gives me an error like:

Code: Select all

File reading failed: VLC could not open the file "/home/kevin/Desktop/song 1.mp3". Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///home/kevin/Desktop/song+1.mp3'. Check the log for details.
If I add it using the playlist window, using Media -> Open File..., or using "vlc song+1.mp3" from the terminal, then it works fine. But I really want it to work for double-clicking.

BTW Im using the Openbox window manager and Thunar is my file manager. Also I wonder if this old bug is related any:

Then your thunar is misconfigured.

Misconfigured in what way? How do I fix it?

I have no idea thunar decides to open files. Probably a vlc.desktop file?

For now I've decided to switch to qtfm. For some reason, it has no problem opening the file.
