VLC does not honors Interlacing config with m2ts

Dear VLC users,
It seems that every time I open an interlaced m2ts video, I have to manually set the desired de-interlace method (Video->deinterlacing. I've also tried setting it over the configuration dialog, which is supposed to make it remember the configuration, but nothing seems to change.

Unfortunaly I only have this interlaced .m2ts file, but i'm assuming that it only happens with this format because every search for "force vlc interlace" (or somthing along those words) has resulted in people with theirs problem solved.

I've also tried using "--deinterlace-mode bob" as a command argument, but no change.

So.. if you know something else that can make the deinterlacing configuration persistent, tell me!

Some specs:
VLC 1.0.6
Linux archbox 2.6.33-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu May 13 12:06:25 CEST 2010 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) X3 425 Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
nvidia 195.36.15
