[openSUSE] Digital sound

Postby arcane » 08 May 2010 23:04

I have a computer running openSUSE 11.2 connected to a Dolby Digital/DTS Receiver via S/PDIF. Is it possible to configure VLC / ALSA / Pulseaudio / whatever in a way that a Dolby Digital or DTS signal is directly passed through to the receiver? Right now my receiver only gets a analog signal, although it's connected via optical S/PDIF.

I use KDE 4 and have my on-board sound card (NVidia CK804) configured via ALSA. If I have to use a different sound driver (Pulseaudio, esound) to get it to work - that would be fine as well.

Any help would be appreciated.
